Alex Roberson
he/him
Hi, my name is Alex. I am an artist, dancer, actor, health connoisseur, and professional driver all the way from DFW (Dallas, Fort Worth) Texas. I grew up in the emerging youthful and adventurous city suburbs, where I spent most of my childhood years outside exploring and playing just about every sport there is with new friends. As a kid I liked a good pair of sneakers, climbing on rocks, playing pranks, and wearing shorts when it was cold outside. But on a warm Sunday morning, I could be found with my family in the living room letting loose to some good music, while my dad played the likes of Sade, Lyle Lovett, and The Police. I would quite literally dance until I dropped, the type of kid to make things up as he goes. Through my middle school and high school years, my friends and I cultivated an extensive music taste ranging in more genres than the average musicgoer has ever heard of, somehow still only scratching the surface. My favorites include Hiatus Kaiyote, BROCKHAMPTON, Steve Lacy, Smino, Thundercat, and Ravyn Lenae. It wasn't until middle school I tried out acting on a whim and I really found joy in expressing myself and sharing with others. I continued acting all through high school, participating in the Texas UIL one-act play competition and competing in a nationally-ranked show choir. Ultimately leading me to be a double major in Dance and Theatre at the hidden gem that is Rowan University in South Jersey across the Delaware River from Philly. It is at Rowan where I take my ability to groove and get down and blend it with newfound modern dance ideas and techniques. Becoming passionate about dance and acting, I attended the American Dance Festival as well as 36 Chambers of Styles to continue building community and expanding my knowledge of dance. Now I will be a fresh graduate looking to spring forth into new spaces and communities to continue the sharing of the craft.
